Teriyaki Chicken, Seaweed and Calrose rice

Meimei has recently acquired the taste for seaweed. It started when she was rewarded with small packets of seaweed by her Art teacher in the childcare centre. She liked it so much that she bugged us to buy a big packet (individually packed) of seaweed so that she can share with her cousins.

And since both the kids 'fought' with Papa over the Yakitori rice set on Saturday, we thought we can try cooking something Japanese for them at home. So, it was Teriyaki Chicken. To make it more authentic, we bought Calrose rice and bits of seaweed to use a garnishing.

Verdict? Meimei liked the chicken and seaweed, doesn't mind the rice. Didi, on the other hand, could just eat the plain rice. Papa thinks it's because the rice is little sweet and tastier than the usual rice. And to make it even more appealing for them, I packed the rice into the moulds. Not bad cos Didi finished everything and Meimei almost finished hers as well.

Banana Cake

Inspired by my friend's bake, I decided to give it a go at baking banana cake. I modified the recipe from a blog and used margarine instead of butter so that Didi can try it. My guess is that the kids won't like it cos they don't like bananas. Personally, I find it too sweet. Will cut down on the sugar the next time I bake it.

Graduation concert

Another year is coming to an end and the kids performed at the annual graduation concert. We can tell that both Meimei and Didi had a fun time dancing on stage for their respective items.

Meimei has grown up and she is bolder on stage. She danced really well and remembered all her steps, including the ones where she had to coordinate with her partner. She was so loud that we could hear her chuckling when the audio guy played a tune too early (her item had just ended and the curtains were almost drawn).

Didi surprised all of us because he danced really well and was moving in tune with the beats. He wasn't afraid and it seemed like he put in his best for the 2 dance items. It was a waste that he wasn't standing at the front of the formation. Maybe he will be put at the front for next year's concert that his dancing talent has been discovered.

The photos (that we've ordered from the professional photographer) and videos (from the DVD) will be uploaded once they are passed to us. I hope they have captured the dancing on the actual day because the kids were really good. :)

Throwing tantrums

This is one of those times when Meimei refuses to cooperate.

Art work

These are some of Meimei's art work drawn during her Art lessons in the childcare centre. Not sure which are the parts done by her.

See, airplanes!

It's been a while since the kids went to this restaurant where they can play with sand, feel the sea breeze and hear the roars of the airplanes flying overhead.
